The Gap

Untitled

"The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words."

Elliott Erwitt

These days I feel explaining a photograph with words doesn't make sense at all.
Things which really charm me exist between the gaps words cannot fill.

"Sharpness is a bourgeois concept"

"Sharpness is a bourgeois concept"

Henri Cartier-Bresson

These days, I find myself blurring photographs rather than sharpening them. I sometimes even pick shaky one excluding ones 'technically well-taken'. I had been thinking 'separating' subjects from the others or the background is supposed to produce 'good' pictures. I believe camera makers and most of consumers are heading the same direction. I'd rather harmozine them like HCB did. I think what I want to find is not within the faith in sharpness which I believe never ends.

Introspection

Untitled

I feel photography, as an action, is highly introspective.

写真行為というものは、非常に内省的なものであるように感じられる。
